About The Owner
Karl Poirier, Owner
Karl Poirier is a successful young entrepreneur from Edmundston, New Brunswick, and a member of the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation (MMFN). He started as a crab and lobster fisherman for his reserve, and then went on to studying business administration at Ottawa’s Algonquin College. In 2010, Karl acquired a lobster restaurant called “The Pirate”, located on MMFN’s reserve. In 2012, he opened a second location for his restaurant at the Grey Rock Power Centre. Later in 2012, he was awarded “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” by CBDC Madawaska. Since his very beginnings as a restaurant owner, Karl has been fully involved in virtually all aspects of his company. When it comes to his restaurants, Karl’s mission is quite straightforward: to offer great customer service and to provide his customers with fresh and high-quality products.
